Senior year of college not only can be, but is, such a whirlwind of nine months that seem to crawl by so slowly, but in reality, they will fly by. It's a time to go through your last required classes, figure out what you want to do and where to go after graduation, maybe hold a job, and have some kind of social life along with it all.
HOW TO DO IT ALL??
As I am personally beginning my second to last quarter of college here in Ellensburg, my mind is on overdrive trying to figure everything out. There is five classes, a part-time job, a school club, and a social life to all keep alive at once. Needless to say, I've never had so much going on at once, but I won't really complain. I know once I graduate and leave the college life behind, I'll miss everything I had going on and all the people that I got to spend time around on a daily basis. At this point, I'm waiting for someone to tell me what to do next, how to manage the jump from college to the “real world.” But I know that isn't happening. This next step is on me.
Here are a few simple tips to best survive the school year of stress, tests, classes, jobs, internships, friends, relationships, and graduation ➡
SLEEP – strive to rest every night for AT LEAST six hours, more if you are able to. Take naps in between classes, you'll feel so much better. There is nothing worst than going to your 9am class on only three hours of sleep, and dozing off in the middle of lecture.
EAT – make sure to eat meals every day, no matter how busy you may be. Even if you're in a hurry out the door to your morning class, grab a quick snack to tide you over before you can get a real meal. Not eating makes sitting in class for hours at a time every day unbearable, as your stomach growling takes the focus off class. I've personally struggled with this, but I realize how important keeping your body fed is, especially when a busy college student.
STAY ORGANIZED – amidst all the different activities that you may have going on at once, make sure to have your own method to stay organized and keep everything in one place. Nothing is worst than missing a class assignment, no matter how big or small it may be, because you didn't know that it was due. I personally love keeping a planner with me at all times, and putting all assignment due dates in it when I first hear of them. Trust me, it will make life easier.
These three tips are only the simplest things that I know are the most obvious in order to feel somewhat more put-together, but I find them to be the stepping stones to being successful the rest of the school year.
Amidst all the craziness and stress that this time of your life will bring, enjoy these last months of your college career. Take in everything and create the lasting memories, as that is what you will remember five years later. After graduation day, college will only be a memory.
